If you qualify for one of these discounted passes, our already-low fares get even lower! All Foothill Transit discounted passes require a special reduced-fare TAP card – get yours by submitting an application in person at any Foothill Transit Store or online at taptogo.net.
K-12 Students

Who's eligible
Students under 21 years of age and enrolled in an accredited elementary, middle, or high school in LA County can apply for a student discount TAP card at taptogo.net/reduced_fare, or at our Transit Stores. Please note that student discount TAP cards expire following the student’s 8th grade and 12th grade years.
How to get it
Qualified applicants may submit applications for the K-12 student discounted pass at any time during the school year.
Customers who qualify for reduced fare because of enrollment in a special education program will need to submit their reduced fare application to the Metro Reduced Fare Office for approval.
Along with the application, students must provide one of the following documents.
- Current report card (photocopy ok)
- Current valid school ID (photocopy ok)
- Birth certificate (K–8 only)
- Enrollment in-class schedule (photocopy ok)
- Original letter stating current enrollment on school letterhead with a signature of a school official
Some schools participate in the Metro GoPass program – visit metro.net to check school participation.
College and Vocational Students

Who’s eligible
Undergraduate students enrolled in an accredited school in Foothill Transit’s service area for a minimum of 12 units/hours of in-classroom study per week for a minimum of three consecutive months, or graduate students with a minimum of 3–4 units/hours per week, may submit applications for a discounted pass at any time during their current school term.
How to get it
Applicants must provide one of the following documents along with a valid photo ID at a Foothill Transit Store.
- Computer printout stamped by the registrar’s office showing units and/or in-classroom hours
- Current contract or agreement between yourself and the school showing units and in-classroom hours
- Current registration form or enrollment certificate showing units and/or in-classroom hours
- Letter on school letterhead containing the original signature of a school official, verifying start date, end date, and total number of units and/or days and hours of attendance
- Current registration/fee receipt, which includes school term, class schedule, and units
High school students entering college for the first time, or undergraduate students enrolled in a summer/winter program that meets for less than 3 months or 12 units/hours (but who met the requirements during the preceding spring/fall term), must submit one of the above documents for both the current AND preceding term.
College Pass Programs
Foothill Transit’s Class Pass gives unlimited local and Silver Streak rides for FREE to currently enrolled students at four area schools. Please note that Foothill Transit is no longer authorized to process reduced fare applications for medical conditions certified by a professional. Instead, you’ll need to submit a reduced fare application to the Metro Reduced Fare Office for approval.
Applicants must provide one of the following documents, along with a valid photo ID.
- Medicare Identification Card (Medi-Cal cards not accepted)
- Disabled California DMV Placard receipt (with current “valid through” date)
- Disabled Veterans ID/VA benefit summary letter (service connected)
- Copy of current award letter, benefit check, or benefit verification letter showing that you receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits
Low Income Residents
Who’s eligible
Qualifying LA County residents can receive 20 free rides every month, or a discounted Foothill Transit pass, through the Metro Low Income Fare Is Easy (LIFE) Program.
