Stay Safe In The Rain
Safety is our number one goal, so we prepare our operators with rain safety practices.
Ride the bus!
At Foothill Transit, safety is our first priority. We’ve had a lot of rain this winter, and there’s more on the way. With inclement weather, we focus on the importance of safe driving to ensure the safety of our customers, bus operators, and other drivers. According to the Department of Transportation, there are about 707,000 auto accidents each year due to the rain, with 3,300 of them resulting in fatalities. Even so, driving in the rain does not have to be a nerve-wracking experience if you are prepared — and our bus operators are!
At our operations and maintenance facilities, our operators are required to conduct a pre-trip inspection prior to leaving the facility. This pre-trip is a thorough safety inspection.
During the rainy season, we place an extra emphasis on inspecting tires, windshield wipers, and defrosters to make sure we can operate the bus safely. Operators are also encouraged to advise customers to watch their step as they enter the bus to avoid slips and trips. This focus on safety is an integral part of Foothill Transit’s culture, so you can relax and enjoy the ride while we drive.
