Major Detours on May Day (May 1)!Posted April 15th, 2019
May Day marches and events will cause major detours for all Foothill Transit buses in downtown Los Angeles on May 1.
Will you be traveling to downtown L.A. on Wednesday, May 1st?
Be prepared! Buses will detour and many stops will be closed starting at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 1st.
All Foothill Transit bus stops west of Union Station will be temporarily closed on Wednesday, May 1st, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. due to May Day marches and events in downtown Los Angeles.
Customers riding eastbound Lines 493, 495, 497, 498, 499, 699* and the Silver Streak in both directions should use the Union Station bus stop, near the entrance of the El Monte Busway just east of Alameda St. You can use our Trip Planner to find alternate routes to Union Station or call 1-800-RIDE-INFO (743-3463). *Line 699 will continue to serve Patsaouras Transit Plaza as scheduled.
In addition, Commuter Express customers can use the following stops.
- Hope and 1st St (northwest corner)
- 3rd St and Figueroa (northeast corner)

We will make every effort to follow scheduled departure times. However, delays are certain, and your bus may not leave when it normally does. In addition, NEXTRIP predictions will be unreliable during this detour.
Foothill Transit representatives will be on hand to help you get to your destination. Note that the Union Station stop is likely to be very crowded. Please use caution and be patient!
The eastbound Silver Streak stop will relocate temporarily to the farthest, most eastern point of the median. Eastbound Commuter Express buses will stop behind the Silver Streak. Commuter Express buses will be assigned a destination by an on-site supervisor when they arrive, so watch and listen carefully for your correct bus.
Conditions on May Day can be unpredictable, and this detour may need to change. Make sure you’re getting up-to-the-minute updates on all your favorite Foothill Transit lines. Sign up to get the information you want sent directly to you via email or text message.
